First Blog

This first blog post is about my experience with wine. I have minimal experience with wine. I have always like the more sweet, fruity, and light wines. Red wines have never been something I enjoyed but I am looking forward to trying different red wines to see if there are some that I could really enjoy. Rose is also something I really enjoy as well as Champagne. I love doing wine and cheese nights with friends or a nice pino grigio with my dinner.

This is something that made me start getting into wine as well as my mom is a wine lover. She has a wine subscription to a winery near our house back home and would get 4 bottles a month. My older sisters also love wine and when I turned 21 the first thing I did was go to a winery with them. I also tried a riesling and fell in love with it. I definitely like the more floral tastes and light flavors of peach, and other assorted fruits.

I think I am excited to learn more about the etiquette of wine and how many different types of wines there are and be able to talk about it more. I want to explore more wines and my taste to be able to expand my palette. I definitely don't explore different wines on a normal basis but this class I hope helps me expand more and by the end of class I hope to have fallen in love with red wines just as much as I love white wines.

Wine Tasting - Pinot Grigio California

Name:  Elementalist Pinot Grigio California 2021 Variety:  100% Pinot Grigio Region:  Mendocino County, California  Country:  USA Year:  2021 Price:  $7.99 Winery Review :   Aromas of white peach, key lime and orange blossom combined with crisp acidity, subtle pear notes and a whisper of melon. Pairs well with appetizers or salads. Anything that is light and refreshing. Best served chilled. It i s nicely aromatic in the glass featuring green apple, pear, lemon and a little honeysuckle. It's quite a good start and tasting backs it up.  September, 2021 Wine Folly: It is known for its zesty flavor along with the primary flavors being white peach, lemon zest, cantelope, and raw almond. It does not recommend decanting which I did not do and I did serve it chilled which was recommended at a temperature of 45-55 degrees. It did note that you can leave it for 3-5 years but I did drink it right away and it is a bottle of wine with the year 2021....
