Winery Review: The restaurant called Magnolias described this wine as fruity but refreshing. It would be a perfect pairing with any seafood, poultry, and pasta. This riesling was said to be sweet and refreshing and not too sweet because some riesling's can be too sweet for heavier foods but this pairs well with most food.
Wine Folly: Riesling is described as an aromatic white variety that can produce wines from bone dry to very sweet. Germany is the world most important producer of riesling. The primary flavors can include lime, green apple, beeswax, jasmine, and even petroleum. Riesling has very high acidity and is light body typically. It needs to be served at 38-45 degrees fahrenheit. Food pairings can include spicy foods if it is an off-dry riesling along with duck, pork, and seafoods such as crab and shrimp.
My Wine Review: I was in Charleston, SC and we went to a restaurant called Magnolia's. We ordered this riesling to pair with the steak and scallops we were going to get. We received our bottle at the table and I was able to taste it before accepting the wine. The experience was amazing. If we were low on our wine our waiter would refill it every time. I had never gotten wine by the bottle at this nice of a restaurant and it truly was an amazing experience. The riesling itself was sweet but not too sweet and very fresh to taste. It paired amazing with my steak it was not too heavy with it and was light tasting. It was fruity with a hint of green apple I would say. It was crisp and the most perfect wine to pair with the meal I had.
